Agri Food Pilot Program

Agri Food Pilot Program

Canada’s Agri-Food Pilot Program provides a dedicated pathway to permanent residence for experienced, non-seasonal workers in the agriculture and agri-food sector. This initiative addresses ongoing labor shortages in critical agricultural industries, ensuring stability and growth in Canada's food production system.

Who is eligible?

To qualify under the Agri-Food Pilot, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Work Experience: At least one year of full-time, non-seasonal work experience in an eligible occupation within the past three years.
  • Job Offer: A permanent, full-time job offer in an eligible industry outside Quebec.
  • Language Proficiency: Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 in English or French.
  • Education: A Canadian high school diploma or an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) verifying equivalent foreign education.
  • Settlement Funds: Proof of funds (if applicable) to support settlement in Canada.

Legal Status: If applying from within Canada, the applicant must maintain valid temporary resident status.

Which industries and occupations are eligible?

The program is open to specific industries classified under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), including:

  • Meat Product Manufacturing (NAICS 3116): Butchers, meat cutters, laborers in food processing.
  • Greenhouse, Nursery & Floriculture Production (NAICS 1114): General farm workers, harvesting laborers.
  • Animal Production (NAICS 1121-1129): Livestock workers, farm supervisors.

Each industry has designated National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes that determine eligible job roles.

  • Secure a Job Offer: Obtain a permanent job offer from a Canadian employer in an eligible industry.
  • Gather Documents: Prepare proof of work experience, language test results, education credentials, and financial statements.
