Atlantic Immigration Program

Atlantic Immigration Program

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a collaborative initiative between the Government of Canada and the Atlantic provinces, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, designed to address local labor shortages and provide a streamlined route to permanent residence. At Kahlon Law Office, we are committed to guiding skilled workers, intermediate-skilled professionals, and international graduates through every step of this exciting opportunity.

The AIP enables qualified candidates to secure a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a designated employer in one of Canada’s Atlantic provinces. Whether you are applying from abroad or already residing in Canada on temporary status, the program allows you to obtain work authorization while your permanent residence application is processed, paving the way for a smooth transition into your new community.

Who can apply?

For Candidates:

  • Skilled Workers: Professionals with at least one year of recent work experience in occupations classified under NOC Skill Levels 0, A, or B, along with recognized educational credentials.
  • Intermediate-Skilled Workers: Individuals with at least one year of experience in occupations at NOC Skill Level C.
  • International Graduates: Graduates from recognized Atlantic Canadian post-secondary institutions can apply even without prior work experience.

In addition to a qualifying job offer, all candidates must meet minimum language proficiency requirements (CLB/NCLC 4 in English or French across all skills) and, in some cases, provide proof of settlement funds.

For Employers:

Atlantic employers experiencing labor shortages can tap into international talent through the AIP. Designation by the provincial government is required, which allows employers to extend job offers without the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), provided they comply with the program's criteria.

How does the program work?

  • Job Offer & Employer Designation:
Secure a permanent, full-time job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces.
  • Settlement Planning:
Collaborate with a recognized settlement service provider to develop a personalized plan, outlining how you and your family will adapt to life in Atlantic Canada.
  • Provincial Endorsement:
Your employer submits your application for endorsement to the respective provincial authority. Upon approval, you receive a Certificate of Endorsement, which is essential for your permanent residence application.

Immigration Application Process:
Submit your complete permanent residence application, including supporting documents such as your job offer, language test results, and settlement plan. In some cases, you may also be eligible to apply for a temporary work permit while awaiting the final decision on your permanent residence.
